From 19–25 May 2025, communities across Australia will come together to recognise the incredible impact of volunteers during National Volunteer Week — a national celebration of the individuals who give their time to support others and strengthen community wellbeing. At GoCo, we know that volunteering in aged care is more than just lending a hand — it’s about creating connection, compassion, and community.

Our aged care volunteers play a vital role in supporting people across the New England and North West regions of NSW, helping individuals stay socially connected, independent, and supported.

💙 What is National Volunteer Week?

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is an annual celebration of the generous Australians who give their time to help others. Organised by Volunteering Australia, this week is all about recognising the power of volunteering and its ability to bring communities together, support wellbeing, and make a meaningful difference — especially in aged care.

It also highlights the many ways volunteers contribute behind the scenes every day — from mentoring and admin support to meal deliveries, community events, and one-on-one social connection.

🤝 The Role of Volunteers at GoCo

At GoCo, our aged care volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s driving someone to a medical appointment, delivering a warm meal, or offering companionship through our social support programs, our volunteers help bring GoCo’s mission to life every day.

By volunteering in aged care, these generous individuals help reduce isolation, promote healthy ageing, and offer practical support that empowers people to stay living independently in their own homes and communities.
