The Australian Government has delayed the start of the Support at Home Program and the new Aged Care Act. Originally due to begin on 1 July 2025, the new proposed date is 1 November 2025.

Why was the program delayed?
The delay follows feedback from care providers, advocacy groups, and older Australians. Many raised concerns that the original July timeline didn’t allow enough time to properly prepare.
In response, the government agreed to delay the rollout so more consultation, testing, and support can take place – ensuring a smoother transition for everyone.
What is the Support at Home Program?
The Support at Home Program will replace existing programs like CHSP and Home Care Packages. It’s designed to make aged care services simpler and more tailored to individual needs.

- Restorative Care Pathway
- End-of-Life Pathway
