We have a long history and proven track record working with Aboriginal communities in our region. This commitment continues with employment of Aboriginal staff. GoCo is happy to offer you a choice to work with someone who is Aboriginal, or not, no matter which program you are eligible for.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

Gunnedah Elders Group

GoCo Elders Group is open to Aboriginal people over the age of 50 years. The Elders who attend will be able to join in a variety of activities, enjoy a homemade meal, and have a chance to catch up with old friends or make some new ones. Participants are invited to attend regular trips away. Transport to and from the group is available.

You will need to be registered through My Aged Care, or a Participant of the NDIS, to attend this group. If you would like more information, or some help to register on My Aged Care please call our Intake Officer on 02 6740 2240, or contact us to request a call back.

Culturally Appropriate Care

GoCo offers Home Care Packages to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are eligible through My Aged Care and are aged 50 years or over. GoCo Partners with services, where possible, which have aboriginal employees to deliver your services in your home, should you choose. GoCo is open to working with new Partners in local communities to ensure our clients have the ability to choose who is providing their services. Elders Olympics

The Elders Olympics is help annually at various locations. GoCo takes a team to compete in these Olympics every year. This year we were the proud winners of the baton and egg and spoon relays!

 

Transport

We receive funding from Transport NSW to help Aboriginal people to attend funeral or Sorry business. For more information, or to book transport please contact us. For more information about GoCo’s transport services click below. 

NAIDOC Week

GoCo is represented on the Naidoc Committee in Gunnedah which coordinates celebrations for Naidoc Week each year. For more information on Naidoc Week and where the planning process is up to, please contact our office on 02 6740 2240.
