Melbourne cup was celebrated with our group at Cockburn Cottage, Kootingal on the 8th November 2018.

Races at Cockburn Cottage, Kootingal

We had a lovely day in Kootingal, the Cockburn Cup was run with three winners getting over the line. The horses and jockeys have trained hard all year. Our jockeys certainly were exhausted after their efforts.  The race was followed with prawns and (non alcoholic) beer and champagne. With a seafood basket and salad for our mains and pavlova for dessert. Everyone gambled their savings away with our $1 and $2 sweeps, but only the few lucky ones went home with more loot than they came with.

Our fashion on the field winner was one of our gentlemen, who looked very dashing in his tie.

It was a lovely fun day, especially because we were very happy to be inside with our air-conditioner and not out in the rain at the races!
